Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour use gluten-free for gluten-free option
For the Coating

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper adjust for spice level
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Bang Bang Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise substitute with Greek yogurt for a healthier option
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp sriracha adjust for heat preference
For Assembling the Tacos
  • 8 pieces corn or flour tortillas use corn for gluten-free
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage substitute with shredded lettuce if preferred
  • 1 cup avocado slices

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Soak the peeled shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix all-purpose flour with spices to create the seasoned flour.
  3. Dredge shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture.
  4. Dip shrimp back in buttermilk, then coat in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in skillet and fry shrimp until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain fried shrimp on paper towels.
  7. Whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha to make the bang bang sauce.
  8. Assemble tacos with tortillas, shredded cabbage, fried shrimp, bang bang sauce, and avocado.
