  • ¼ cup Heavy Cream

For the Cherry Swirl
  • 1 cup Cherry Pie Filling Or homemade compote

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the baking pan.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl and stir in the granulated sugar.
  3. Add cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and extract to the buttery sugar mixture.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time and then fold in the all-purpose flour.
  5. Fold in mini chocolate chips if using.
  6. Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in sugar, flour, heavy cream, and eggs.
  7. Layer half of the brownie batter, followed by the cheesecake mixture and then the remaining brownie batter.
  8. Swirl the brownie and cheesecake layers together gently.
  9. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until edges are firm and a toothpick shows moist crumbs.
  10. Cool completely and refrigerate before cutting into squares.
