Ingredients
  

Chili Base
  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef Turkey makes a great substitute.

  • 2 tbsp Chili Powder Adjust to suit spice preference.

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder Can be omitted if using fresh onions.
  • 1 tsp Salt Kosher or sea salt are great alternatives.
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Preferably freshly cracked.
Tomato Mixture
  • 2 cans Petite Diced Tomatoes Whole tomatoes can be chopped as a substitute.
  • 1 can Tomato Sauce A broth can be used as a no-tomato alternative.
  • 1 can Rotel Choose mild or hot based on preference.
  • 1 cup Salsa Homemade salsa is a great touch!
Beans
  • 1 can Chili Beans in Chili Sauce Kidney or pinto beans can be used as replacements.
  • 1 can Black Beans Cannellini or pinto beans can be swapped.

Method
 

Steps
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook lean ground beef until browned, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped white onion and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until softened for about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper; cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer mixture to slow cooker; add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Rotel, salsa, chili beans, and black beans. Combine well.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 5 to 6 hours.
  6. Remove lid 30 minutes before serving to thicken chili; stir occasionally.
  7. Ladle chili into bowls and top with garnishes like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
