For the Cheese Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Used for sautéing onions.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced finely for even cooking.
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic Use fresh for best results.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Soften before use for easier blending.
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream A lighter cream can be used.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Feel free to mix varieties.

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the sliced smoked sausage. Sear for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add finely diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  5. In a medium saucepan, whisk softened cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add heavy whipping cream and simmer over low heat for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted, season with salt and pepper.
  7. In a large bowl, combine cooked sausage, cauliflower, and broccoli florets. Pour cheese sauce over and stir until coated.
  8. Transfer to a greased baking dish, spread evenly, and bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
