Step-by-Step Instructions for Almond Flour Apple Fritters
- Chop 2-3 apples into small pieces. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender. Remove and cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk 1 egg with 3 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, sift together 1 cup of almond flour, 1/2 cup of oat flour, 1/4 cup of tapioca flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet mixture.
- Fold in the sautéed apples gently. Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and line the basket with parchment paper. Portion the batter into the basket, leaving space. Optionally baste with melted coconut oil and air-fry for about 8 minutes until golden brown.
- For baking, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, baste with coconut oil, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Combine 4 ounces of cream cheese, 4 tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a bowl. Mix until smooth and drizzle over warm fritters. Let glaze set for 10 minutes before serving.
