  • 1 tablespoon Spices (paprika, garlic powder) Adjust to taste.
  • 1 large Egg Can substitute with a flax egg for vegan.
  • 1 cup Milk Any type, dairy or plant-based.
For Spritzing
  • 2 tablespoons Oil Spray Use olive oil or avocado oil for health.

Equipment

  • Air fryer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by peeling your small sweet onions, removing all skin and trimming the tops. Cut about four slits around the base without cutting through the root.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour with spices to create the coating. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Roll the onion in the flour mix, dip in the egg wash, and coat again in flour.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place the coated onions root-side down in the air fryer basket with space to allow air circulation. Spritz a light coat of oil over the tops.
  5. Cook the onions in the air fryer for 10 minutes at 375°F (190°C), checking for golden color and adding 1-2 minutes if necessary.
  6. Carefully remove from the air fryer and allow to cool slightly before serving. Pair with your favorite dip.
