Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: almond flour, psyllium husk, shredded mozzarella, and salt until well combined.
  2. Incorporate the wet ingredients, adding the egg and then the warm water gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Shape the dough into 4 equal portions, rolling each into a ball and flattening into a ½ inch thick disc.
  4. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat until hot.
  5. Cook the arepas in the skillet for 4-5 minutes on one side until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Flip the arepas and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until golden brown on the other side.
  7. Remove the arepas, cool on a wire rack for a couple of minutes, and slice to add fillings.
