  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract Imitation vanilla is an affordable option.
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Whole wheat flour can add a dense texture.
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda Baking powder can work too, just adjust the amount.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Banana Bread Brownies
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of softened butter, and 1/2 cup of sour cream until light and fluffy. Add in the mashed ripe bananas and vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 3/4 teaspoon of salt. Gently fold this dry mixture into the banana mixture with 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. For the frosting, melt 1/4 cup of butter in a saucepan over medium heat until brown. Remove from heat and whisk in 3-4 cups of powdered sugar and 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract, adjusting with 2-3 tablespoons of milk as needed.
  7. Once the brownies are cool, pour the brown butter frosting over them and slice into squares to serve.
