Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  3. Cut in ½ cup of cold, cubed unsalted butter into the dry mixture until you achieve a coarse crumb texture.
  4. Combine ¾ cup of buttermilk with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking pan and press it evenly across the bottom.
