Method
 

Preparation

  2. Cut the day-old bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Making the Custard
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, pressing gently to soak them.
Baking
  1. If making the overnight version, cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
  2. Drizzle melted butter over the top, and for the overnight version, sprinkle brown sugar.
  3. Bake for 40-45 minutes or 30-35 minutes for the cinnamon roll version until golden and firm.
  4. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
