Cooking Steps
  1. Set your Instant Pot to sauté mode. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and add the 10 sliced yellow onions. Stir occasionally for about 15 minutes until caramelized.
  2. Once caramelized, add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, and 2 tablespoons flour. Stir well.
  3. Pour in 1/2 cup of red wine. Stir for 1-2 minutes to deglaze the pot.
  4. Add 6 cups of beef broth, ensuring ingredients are mixed well. Secure the lid and set to high pressure for 5 minutes.
  5. After cooking, perform a quick release of pressure. Open the lid and enjoy the aroma.
  6. Slice the baguette and grate the Gruyere cheese. Preheat your oven to the broil setting.
  7. Ladle soup into bowls, place baguette slices on top, and sprinkle grated cheese over the bread.
  8. Broil the bowls for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
