Ingredients

For the Wontons
  • 1 package Wonton wrappers Can be swapped for spring roll wrappers
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil Can use canola or sunflower oil as a substitute
  • 1 spray Cooking spray Optional for baking
For the Creamy Filling
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese Can substitute with Neufchâtel cheese
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Granulated sugar can be used but requires more blending
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Almond extract also works well
  • 1/4 cup Strawberry jam Fresh diced strawberries can be mixed in

Equipment

  • Deep skillet or frying pan

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat together 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in ¼ cup of strawberry jam or diced fresh strawberries.
  2. Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold into a triangle, and seal tightly.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test the temperature with a small piece of wonton wrapper.
  4. Carefully place 4-5 wonton bites in the hot oil, frying for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or alongside chocolate sauce for dipping.
