  • 2 tablespoons Garam Masala or Curry Powder Or substitute with cumin and coriander mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric For color and earthiness
  • to taste Salt
  • 1.5 lbs Potato Diced, about 2 medium russets
  • 1 cup Water Used to cook potatoes until tender
  • 1 cup Green Peas Fresh or frozen, optional
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Cilantro Minced, or substitute with parsley

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Thawed, or use homemade pie crust

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of ghee or butter over medium heat in a large stockpot. Sauté one medium chopped onion for about 20 minutes until golden brown and caramelized.
  2. Add one finely chopped jalapeño pepper and three minced garlic cloves to the pot. Cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in one pound of ground chicken or turkey, along with 2 tablespoons of garam masala, ½ teaspoon of turmeric, and 1.5 teaspoons of salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes until meat is browned.
  4. Incorporate 1.5 pounds of diced potatoes and one cup of water, stirring well. Cover and cook for about 25 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  5. Mix in one cup of green peas and ½ cup of minced fresh cilantro, adjusting salt to taste. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  6. Transfer the filling to a baking dish, spreading it evenly. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Roll out one sheet of thawed puff pastry over the filling, cutting steam vents into the top.
  8. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
