Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until blended.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Incorporate wet ingredients: Add eggs (or flax eggs) and vanilla extract to the mixture, beat until combined and smooth.
  4. Combine mixtures: Gradually alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Add water: Pour in hot water, stirring gently until the batter is glossy and slightly thin.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), pour batter into greased pan, and bake for about 30 minutes.
  7. Cool bars: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for about 30-40 minutes.
  8. Prepare frosting: Whip heavy cream or coconut cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Add coconut and color: Fold in shredded coconut and pink food coloring into the frosting mix.
  10. Frost and slice: Spread frosting over cooled bars and cut into squares to serve.
