Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 1.5 pounds Boneless Ribeye Substitution Note: Sirloin can be used for a leaner option; flank steak works but is less tender.
  • 0.5 small Yellow Onion Adds sweetness and depth.
For the Marinade
  • 0.5 cup Soy Sauce Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce saltiness if desired.
  • 3 tablespoons Brown Sugar Honey or maple syrup can be alternatives.
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin If unavailable, a mix of sugar and water can mimic sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Avoid substitutes for authentic flavor.
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper
  • 1 small Asian Pear A sweet apple can replace Asian pear.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Can use garlic powder in a pinch.
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Ginger Fresh is recommended over powder.
To Finish
  • 1 thinly sliced Green Onion For garnish.
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Seeds For a crunchy finish.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Can substitute with canola or grapeseed oil.

Notes

For best results, partially freeze the beef before slicing. Allowing the beef to marinate for at least 6 hours enhances the flavors.
