Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (80/20 blend)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika smoked paprika for extra flavor
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper optional for heat
For the Tzatziki
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt or vegan yogurt for dairy-free option
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice fresh
  • 1 medium Cucumber, grated drained of excess moisture
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Dill or mint if preferred
For Serving
  • 4 pieces Pita Bread consider gluten-free options
  • 1 small Red Onion, sliced or green onions for a milder taste
  • 1 large Tomato, diced or bell peppers
  • 1 cup Lettuce, shredded romaine or iceberg
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese, crumbled optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, grated cucumber, dill, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil, then sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until spices are fragrant.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap pita bread in foil and warm in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  5. Assemble your gyros by placing seasoned beef in the center of warm pita. Top with red onion, tomato, lettuce, and tzatziki.
  6. Sprinkle feta cheese on top if desired. Serve immediately with extra tzatziki on the side.
