Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, sugar, and sliced peaches. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. After boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, crushing the peach slices gently.
  2. Remove from heat and let sit for 30 minutes to meld flavors. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding solids.
  3. In a large pot, bring 6 cups of fresh water to a gentle boil. Remove from heat, cool slightly, then add tea bags. Steep for 5 to 6 minutes.
  4. Remove tea bags and pour warm tea into a large pitcher. Mix in cooled peach syrup, stir gently, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Stir the iced tea before serving over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with peach slices or mint sprigs if desired.
