Preparation Steps
- Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl.
- Whip egg whites until they form stiff peaks, gradually adding granulated sugar.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the meringue until smooth.
- Drizzle in gel food coloring and fold until evenly blended.
- Pipe small circles of the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Allow piped macarons to rest for about 30 minutes until a dry skin forms.
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake macarons for 15-18 minutes.
- Beat unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Pipe buttercream filling onto one macaron shell and sandwich with another shell.
- Decorate as desired to resemble Santa's belt.
