Step-by-Step Instructions for Spicy Korean Tofu
  1. Begin by draining and pressing your firm tofu to rid it of excess moisture, then slice it into 1/4-inch rectangles.
  2. Finely chop the green onion, setting aside some for garnish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, Korean red chili powder, optional red chili, white sesame seeds, sesame oil, and water. Whisk together.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Arrange tofu pieces in a single layer, frying for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Once the tofu is seared, pour the sauce over them and simmer for 2–4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Transfer the Spicy Korean Tofu to a serving platter, spoon sauce over the tofu and sprinkle with reserved green onion.
