  • kitchen towel

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ¾ cup of warm water. Stir gently to dissolve and let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture, along with ¼ cup of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee. Mix until a rough dough forms, then knead it on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
  3. Place your kneaded dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  4. After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release air bubbles, then divide it into 8 equal pieces and roll each into an oval shape.
  5. Heat a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it. Place one naan in the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, then flip and cook the other side for an additional minute.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of melted butter with 3-4 cloves of minced garlic. Brush this mixture over each naan and garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley.
