Ingredients

For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices Thick-cut Bacon Provides a hearty, smoky crunch; substitute with turkey bacon for a healthier option.
  • 4 large Eggs Forms the creamy, fluffy filling; opt for egg whites for a lighter dish.
  • 2 tablespoons Milk Helps create moist scrambled eggs; use non-dairy milk for a lactose-free version.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances the flavors of the bacon and eggs.
  • 1 pinch Pepper Enhances the flavors of the bacon and eggs.
  • 4 slices Bread (Sourdough or Choice) Serves as the base for the sandwich; whole grain or ciabatta are good alternatives.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Melts into gooey strands; try pepper jack or mozzarella for a unique flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Creates a golden, crispy exterior; replace with olive oil or vegan butter if desired.
  • 2 tablespoons Chives or Green Onions Adds a fresh finish; can be omitted.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the skillet over medium heat. Cook the bacon for 4-5 minutes until crispy, transferring to a paper towel-lined plate once done.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet, cooking undisturbed for 1 minute. Stir gently and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until softly set.
  4. Lay two slices of bread on a surface, add cheese, scrambled eggs, and bacon, then top with more cheese and cover with remaining bread.
  5. Spread butter on the outside of the sandwiches.
  6. Grill the sandwiches in the skillet for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice in half and serve warm, optionally garnishing with chives or green onions.
